Ada Bligaard Søby is a Danish-born filmmaker and artist working in commercials, narrative films and documentaries. She grew up in a community of historians in a 16th century renaissance castle, north of Copenhagen. In her 20s Ada moved to New York where she landed a job assisting famed photographer Terry Richardson, then rode cross country on motorcycles with her camera.

She then returned to Denmark and became a member of the Copenhagen based filmmaker collective “Super 16“. Ada started out shooting documentaries for Nordic broadcasters. Among other projects, she exhibited video art inside the stomach of a stranded whale on the harbor of Reykjavik, Iceland. Ada has directed commercials for Scandinavian and international brands such as Interflora, Telenor, Arbejdernes Landsbank and Engie.

While on the sidelines, Ada designs a line of hip hop hoodies together with a befriended casting director and former supermodel, May Andersen. The fashion line is called “Official Explanation“ and was founded to support young generations and minorities making art.

Ada is also an accomplished photographer, whose photo book “The Best Is Yet To Come” features portraits of Kate Moss and the Danish Queen. Her most recent project is a puppet comedy short film called „My Baguette / Your Baguette“, a satire about sexism in the advertising industry.. It’s voiced by Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead), Diane Kruger (Inglourious Basterds) and Andre Royo (Bubbles from The Wire).
